Dear Delegates and Advisors,
It is with privilege and honor that I invite you all to the inaugural Englewood Model United Nations Conference (EMUNC). This thrilling two day conference will be held on the campus of Dwight Morrow Academies @ Englewood, New Jersey from April 17-18, 2009.
For over seven years, the Englewood Model United Nations team has competed diligently at various nationally recognized institutions including Yale University, Princeton University, and George Washington University. The hard work has resulted in the individual recognition of the majority of our MUN team members. Over the past four years, I, along with the rest of the Englewood MUN team, have been given this special opportunity to go and compete at distinguished conferences. On behalf of all the Secretariat, Chairs, and staff I would like to extend this opportunity to all high school students by inviting you to EMUNC 2009.
Year after year, students sit in their classes learning the integral basis to any education: Math, Science, English, History, etc. With this strong foundation, students go off to college and repeat their high school experience with more specialized courses. At EMUNC, we plan to take the educational experience to a new level by engaging students in interactive debate, challenging their skills of innovative problem solving, and giving students the opportunity to communicate on a professional basis. The knowledge of international issues has become increasingly important and valuable in today's society. Real world lessons and values will be learned when students assume the responsibility of a United Nations delegate. In efforts to find solutions for issues of vast global importance, delegates will engage in debate, give speeches, and draft resolutions. While delegates represent their respective countries on the international stage, they will strengthen their public speaking and communication skills and open their eyes to the pressing issues faced by our world today.
